As People Battle Hunger, Food Grain Rots in India
In India, hunger is a deadly problem. Food prices have soared v. increased quickly in the last year. The poor can’t get enough to eat. Nearly half of the country’s children under age 5 don’t get the right mix of food to stay healthy.
So why are millions of tons of wheat and rice rotting v. decaying, going bad in the open? It seems that India can grow plenty of food. It just can’t store or move the food well enough to feed its 1.2 billion people.
